BOSTON, MA — The city is seeking poll workers to help oversee voting during the upcoming state election.
Boston is accepting applications through its online poll worker portal ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Workers will receive paid training and a stipend for their service, according to the city.
Poll workers help set up voting locations, check in voters, distribute ballots, and direct people to voting stations. Responsibilities also include assisting voters with vision or physical limitations, providing language assistance, recording ballot totals, and helping close the polls.
Those selected must attend a two-hour training session before working on Election Day. The city will provide the training schedule and location after applications are submitted.
High school students who will be at least 16 by Nov. 3 can also apply. In addition to registering through the portal, students must complete a separate form available on the city's application information page.
Applicants will undergo a public-records search of the Sex Offender Registry Board, and the results may affect their eligibility.
Interested parties with questions are being asked to contact the Boston Election Department at 617-635-0905 or via email.
