Officers were conducting an on-site investigation when they observed a group of approximately 10 people gathered in the area. Another man reportedly approached Chase, who reached into a bag on the ground and handed him four unidentified items before the individual left the area.

Police continued monitoring Chase and observed him reaching into his waistband and removing multiple items. After witnessing several additional suspected transactions with other individuals, officers stopped Chase and began an investigation.

During the encounter, officers recovered a folding knife from Chase before searching his jacket, where they had observed him reaching during the suspected transactions. Police reportedly recovered multiple individually wrapped bags containing suspected drugs from his jacket and pants pockets, along with several loose pills and cash in various denominations.

Officers also searched Chase's backpack and recovered two digital scales and a box of sandwich bags, according to police.

In total, officers recovered 28 individually packaged bags of suspected fentanyl, a paper fold of suspected crack cocaine, a bag of suspected psilocybin mushrooms and 20 loose gabapentin pills.

Chase was taken into custody and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of trafficking fentanyl, distribution of fentanyl, possession of Class B drugs, possession with intent to distribute Class C drugs, and possession with intent to distribute Class E drugs.
