BOSTON, MA — A 14-year-old student is facing multiple firearm charges after Boston Police recovered a loaded gun at a Back Bay high school Wednesday morning, according to the Boston Police Department.
The teenager, who is from Roxbury, was arrested at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Snowden International High School, located at 150 Newbury St., after officers assigned to the School Engagement Unit received information that a student was reportedly in possession of a firearm.
Officers were patrolling the area when they were approached by an individual who reported that school officials had been made aware of a student possibly carrying a gun. Shortly afterward, an officer observed the student walking between school campuses near the intersection of Newbury Street and Exeter Street.
As the officer approached the school entrance, a school resource officer also reported concerns that a student was in possession of a firearm. Additional officers responded to the scene and located the teen inside a school office.
Officers approached the student and conducted a frisk, recovering a firearm from his waistband. The teen was subsequently taken into custody.
Police identified the weapon as a Smith & Wesson ghost gun loaded with 10 rounds of live ammunition.
The juvenile is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on delinquency charges involving unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm on school grounds, possession of a firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
