Boston Centerless Named Exporter of the Year for MA

Woburn-based firm with over 60 years' experience as a grinding company enhances customer manufacturing processes with cutting edge solutions

BOSTON – The Small Business Administration (SBA) has named Boston Centerless the 2023 Exporter of the Year for Massachusetts.

Boston Centerless earned the recognition after serving the manufacturing community for over 60 years; Today the firm manufactures and distributes precision raw materials and provides preparation services as one of the most respected centerless grinding companies in the region.

“As a longstanding client of the Massachusetts Export Center where they found support to expand internationally, Boston Centerless has been exporting for over 20 years with overseas sales an important area for growth.” said District Director Robert Nelson. “Boston Centerless has successfully found a way to continue growing and we’re glad the SBA is a part of their team. “

The Massachusetts Export Center through the years provided technical support to the firm for a variety of different export-related issues, including export regulatory compliance, export operational concerns, international channel development, international sales and marketing, and more.

Boston Centerless sees export markets playing an important role for growth in the near future, working with the Export Center to identify sector specific distributors to more effectively reach niche vertical markets in Canada including medical devices, aerospace and oil/gas production – for example.

Active export markets for Boston Centerless include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.

The company took advantage of the SBA’s State Trade Expansion Program for several years utilizing the grant to engage in international marketing activities that helped grow export sales. Boston Centerless also received Paycheck Protection Program from the SBA to assist with Covid relief.

Boston Centerless CEO Steven Tamasi is a second-generation owner who has led efforts to improve and expand workforce development for precision machining. He currently leads the National Robotics League and is founder and board member of the adult E-Team Machinist Training Program. Boston Centerless is also a sponsor and mentor for the Winchester, MA High School Robotics team.
