Boston Cops Respond To Call To Wish Man A Happy Birthday

EAST BOSTON, MA — A local man named Chris called 911 just after midnight Thursday asking for birthday wishes, and Boston police officers too the opportunity to share some smiles — and a song.

Body camera footage released to multiple outlets including WHDH shows officers standing at Chris' doorstep with a muffin topped with candles as they sing him a birthday song.

"Hey, we're happy that you're 25," one of the officers said as they lit the candles. "That's a big number."

Officer Israel Bracho told WHDH that at first, they thought the call was a joke. But once they verified that it was in fact Chris' birthday, they knew they wanted to make it special for him.

"Everyone has one birthday, so everyone deserves to feel special on that one day," Bracho said.

Bracho added to Boston25 that the treat was a banana muffin.

"He was stoked! He was so happy!" Bracho said.
