Stubborn Dorchester Fire Strikes 4 Alarms
Firefighters were battling a blaze in Codman Square.
BOSTON, MA — Firefighters have been at the scene of a stubborn four-alarm fire Dorchester's Codman Square for hours.
The fire is at 573 Washington St., which houses Codman Square Market and Mod Liquors in a single-story "taxpayer" commercial building. Those sort of buildings often present special hazards to firefighters due to being poorly, meaning quicker burning and favorable conditions for backdrafts.
The fire wall appears to be holding up at the neighboring X O Restaurant and Citizens Bank.
