BOSTON, MA — A month after Los Amigos Taqueria's Brighton location was shut down after failing health inspections and being linked to a salmonella outbreak affecting 33 locals, the restaurant has been shut down again, according to a WCVB report.

Following another visit last week, health inspectors shut the restaurant down a second time due to cold holding violations and hot holding violations, among others, according to a report obtained by the outlet. Inspectors also observed staff rinsing clean pans and placing them on the drying rack without sanitizing, the report said.

During the May inspection and just before the restaurant's first shutdown, officials found mold, rust, and other substances on surfaces inside the Brighton location, according to a city report.

An inspection of the Los Amigos West Roxbury location also found "several critical health violations" including rodent droppings on food and drink containers and "no verifiable evidence of illness policy training," causing that location to be closed as well, the city said.

Last month, state health officials at least four dozen confirmed cases of salmonella were linked to Los Amigos Taqueria’s Brighton restaurant. Despite multiple health violations at the Roxbury restaurant, no salmonella reports were connected to that location.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, salmonella are bacteria that make people sick. Most people with Salmonella infection have diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps that begin six hours to six days after infection and last four to seven days, officials said. However, some people do not develop symptoms for several weeks after infection and others experience symptoms for several weeks.

In some cases, salmonella can cause infection in urine, blood, bones, joints, or the nervous system and can cause severe illness, particularly in the elderly and those with weakened immune systems, according to officials.
