Boston New Year's 2018: First Night Cancellations Amid Cold

Due to public safety concerns, some of the outdoor celebrations have been canceled.

BOSTON, MA – Folks looking to ring in 2018 on the Boston Common will miss some events amid blistering cold weather. Several of the Boston "First Night" activities have been canceled due to safety concerns, city officials announced Saturday. Unfortunately, it's a few of the favorites.

The Frog Pond Skating Spectacular and People's Procession to Boston Common, slated for 6 p.m. Sunday evening, have been canceled, as well as the Boston's Family Fireworks, scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Copley Square Stage Performances, which were to take place from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Monday, have been canceled.
