Boston Officer Hospitalized After Cruiser Crash: Report

The incident took place in the West Roxbury neighborhood.

BOSTON, MA — A police officer was hospitalized after the cruiser they were driving crashed into a building in West Roxbury on Thursday afternoon, according to a report from The Boston Globe.

The single-vehicle crash happened at about 3:41 p.m. near the intersection of Washington and Grove streets, where the cruiser struck a building. The officer was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Earlier reports indicated one person had been injured, but authorities later confirmed the injured person was the officer driving the cruiser.

Officials have not said what caused the cruiser to leave the roadway or whether the officer was responding to a call at the time of the crash. No other injuries have been reported, and police have not identified the business the cruiser struck or released details about the extent of the damage. The crash remains under investigation.
