Boston Plastic Bag Ban Approved By City Council
Mayor Walsh's signature is still needed before this goes into effect.

BOSTON, MA — The Boston City Council unanimously voted Wednesday in favor of banning single-use plastic shopping bags. The ban still needs to be signed by Mayor Marty Walsh before it goes into effect.
Dozens of Massachusetts towns and cities including neighboring Brookline have already instituted such a ban. The Mass Green Network said this is the state's 60th law restricting plastic bags.
What does this mean for Boston shoppers? You'll need to be bring reusable bags when you go shopping unless you want to be charged a five-cent minimum fee for one. Plastic bags less than 3 millimeters thick will be banned. Read more about the proposed ban, which started to gain steam last yet, here.
