Boston Resident Races for Local Youth Mentoring Programs

BOSTON, Mass. – Charlie Elacqua, of Boston, will run the 54th Falmouth Road Race on August 16 to support youth mentoring on Cape Cod and the Islands. Elacqua is raising funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands, the only one-to-one mentoring program serving every town on Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and Plymouth. Funds raised will help connect more youth with a caring adult mentor.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands, part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts family, is on a path to impact the lives of 1,000 youth with a mentor by 2028.

"I am running on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters because it has changed my college experience for the better and has given me a friendship that I truly cherish. I am a rising senior at Boston College and I have been involved in the BC College Bigs program with BBBS since my freshman year and it has not only given me a new friendship but has also changed my outlook on the community not just around BC but around Boston. The BBBS community has given so much to me in terms of bettering my college experience, so I wanted to give back by running the road race for this organization."

Elacqua has been a Big Brother with the agency since 2024. As a rising senior at Boston College, he serves through the agency's College Bigs program, connecting local university students with kids in surrounding communities.

Backed by research and proven outcomes, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands is on a mission to help children in under-resourced families thrive through transformational mentoring relationships.
