Celtics' Jaylen Brown Walks Off After Scary Fall

The scene was briefly reminiscent of the horrifying Gordon Hayward injury at the beginning of the year.

BOSTON, MA — Second-year Celtics player Jaylen Brown endured a frightening fall on the floor Thursday night in Minneapolis. Brown walked off under his own power to a rousing applause after a stretcher had been wheeled out.

Brown, a rising 21-year-old star, threw down a two-handed dunk in the third quarter against the Timberwolves. His full-speed momentum took him to the ground, where he crashed in an awkward position on what appeared to be his upper back/neck area. Brown froze once he hit the ground, and the crowd fell silent. Teammate Marcus Smart appeared to be praying nearby.

Brown did not return for the game and was evaluated for a concussion. In a promising sign, he flew back to Boston with the team.
