Charlie Sheen Has — And Is Auctioning — Most Historic Red Sox Item

BOSTON, MA — An original copy of the sale document that sent Babe Ruth from the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees belong to ... Charlie Sheen?! Yes, and now it can be yours, if you've got bank account to stomach it.

Sheen told ESPN Monday he owns the document and Ruth's 1927 Yankees World Series ring. Both items are up for auction at Lelands.com.

The ring will be the priciest sports championship ring ever sold, according to ESPN, as bidding has already surpassed $600,000. The sale document bidding has surpassed $400,000, which is more than four times what Sox owner Harry Frazee sold Ruth for in 1920. (Check out the Boston Globe article from the sale.) ESPN says Frazee's copy sold in 2005 for $996,000.

Sheen, famous in part for his role as Rick 'Wild Thing' Vaughn in 1989's Major League, has made a habit of buying tortured Red Sox items. In 1992, he bought the ball that went through Bill Buckner's legs in the 1986 World Series for $93,000, selling it eight years later for $63,000, according to ESPN.
