Commuter Rail Line Offers Free Rides
From today until May 21, passengers on this line will ride for free.
BOSTON, MA – The MBTA is offering free rides on the Fairmount Commuter Rail line for two weeks starting Monday. Passengers who board from Readville to South Station will not pay a fare.
The MBTA is offering the two-week promotion to highlight the line as a convenient option for area residents and commuters. Bus and subway options exist within the Fairmount corridor, but appear to be underutilized, according to the MBTA.
"It's exciting to showcase the transit solutions afforded by the Fairmount Line," Keolis General Manager and CEO David Scorey said in a statement. "We look forward to demonstrating the value of the Commuter Rail to members of the Fairmount Line’s communities who otherwise may not have explored this convenient option."
