Conor McGregor Retiring? 'Thanks for the Cheese.'
The Irish UFC superstar may have just retired from fighting.

Irish MMA superstar and Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight champion Conor McGregor may be calling it a career.
The outspoken 27-year-old - who has gained considerable popularity in the Boston area and beyond - issued a tweet Tuesday that has caught the eyes of the sporting world.
I have decided to retire young.
Thanks for the cheese.

McGregor was pulled from his re-match bout in July against Nate Diaz for refusing to show up to promotional events, UFC President Dana White announced on SportsCenter Tuesday.
While McGregor is known for his brash and outlandish words; one of the sport's premier journalists, MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani, is reporting that this tweet was no joke.

Multiple sources are adamant at this time that McGregor's tweet isn't a joke, troll job or hoax of any kind. Reason(s) behind it is unclear.

McGregor's coach John Kavanagh also issued an interesting tweet given the circumstances.

McGregor is coming off the first loss of his UFC career at the hands of Nate Diaz on March 5 at UFC 196. The southpaw is 19-3 overall in his career, with two losses coming while fighting in Ireland early into his professional career.
McGregor was slated for a rematch against Diaz in the main event of UFC 200, which has been promoted as the biggest event in UFC history. While the company has made no statement regarding the news, the career of the sport's biggest star may have come to a close.
