Divers Pull Man's Body From Charles River: MA State Police

The body was found a few hours after witnesses said they saw a man struggling in the water near Longfellow Bridge, according to police.

BOSTON, MA — After several hours of searching, a dive team recovered a man's body from the Charles River Monday afternoon, Massachusetts State Police said in a news release.

The search for the victim began around 11:30 a.m., when witnesses said they saw a man struggling in the water near Longfellow Bridge, according to police.

His body was recovered just before 2 p.m., police said.

The search for and eventual recovery of the victim was a joint operation by Massachusetts State Police patrols and the MSP Dive Team and Marine Unit, Massachusetts Environmental Police, Boston Fire and Police Departments, Cambridge Fire Department, the Coast Guard, and Massport Fire Department, according to police.

Authorities are working to confirm the victim's identity and will perform a post-mortem examination to help determine his cause and manner of death, police said.
