Dorchester Man Charged In South Boston Hit-And-Run Crash
John Murphy, 64, was charged with injuring a 60-year-old woman in a South Boston crosswalk in a hit-and-run crash.

BOSTON — A Dorchester man was arrested after State Police said he hit a 60-year-old woman with his car before driving away. The woman was crossing the street, was in a crosswalk and suffered serious injuries from the crash.
State Police arrested John Murphy, 64, and charged him with operating to endanger, leaving the scene of a crash that caused serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, operating after suspension, operating while texting, tampering with evidence and a crosswalk violation.
State Police said the victim was crossing Day Boulevard near K Street in a crosswalk around 7:17 a.m. Dec. 2. when Murphy struck the woman.

State Police released a photo of Murphy's car and were able to get help from the public in identifying and arresting him. State Police said Murphy was looking at his phone when he struck the victim.
Murphy will be arraigned in South Boston District Court Tuesday afternoon.
