How To Get A Hamilton Ticket For $10 In Boston

Good news, folks. There's a lottery for this award-winning musical that is coming to Boston.

BOSTON, MA — You know that Tony Award Winning Broadway musical that everyone is raving about and is super difficult to find an affordable ticket for? The national tour of Hamilton is making its way to Boston this month and tickets are on sale for the show at the Boston Opera House. They run between $200 and more than $1,000 on Ticketmaster.

If that's a bit rich for your blood, fret not: There will be a special Hamilton lottery for $10 tickets for all performances during the show’s run, the Boston Broadway announced. And the crowd goes wild.

The curtain raises Sept. 18, and two days before each show there will be 40 tickets available through the lottery for those who download the official Hamilton app, or visit the lottery online.

If you win, you can purchase up to two tickets. And you'll get notified the day before the show. On the upside: Those are very affordable tickets, for a show where the price of a seat can edge close to $2,000. The downside? Very little time to adjust your schedule if you win the ticket, and you can't transfer said ticket.

Entering is free for anyone over 18, but you can only enter once. And you need a valid photo ID to get in.

The lottery begins Sunday, September 16 at 11 a.m. EST for the premiere show on Sept. 18 at the Boston Opera House. The curtain closing show is November 18.

Here's the brief skinny: It's the story of America's Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary.

Hamilton the musical is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.

The musical features a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway.
