BOSTON, MA — Island escapist rock legend Jimmy Buffett has been hospitalized in Boston, the singer-songwriter and musician announced in a note to fans late Thursday.

Buffett, 76, said he "had to stop in Boston for a check-up but wound up back in the hospital to address some issues that needed immediate attention," forcing him to cancel his Saturday show with the Coral Reefer Band at Credit One Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina.

He promised that when he is well enough to perform, he will reschedule the show.
