The officer has non-life-threatening injuries, and no one was injured when a single gunshot was fired, police said.

JAMAICA PLAIN, MA — A single shot was fired by a Boston Police officer during a short chase near Egleston Square, police said. The bullet did not strike anyone, but an officer was injured when the suspect vehicle had hit an officer. The officer suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police responded to the School Street area around 3 p.m. for a report of shots fired, Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans told reporters. Police caught up with the vehicle described by witnesses, a white Audi, which allegedly backed up into one of the officers.

The Audi was later recovered at Bragdon and Miles Street, but no one was inside. Police are searching for whomever was in the Audi.
