July 2021 Was The 2nd-Wettest On Record In Boston
More than three times the average amount of rain fell in Boston over the last month.
BOSTON, MA — You're not imagining it, July was a very rainy month in Boston. The state saw more than three times the average amount of rain usually recorded, making it the second-wettest on record.
On average, 3.27 inches of rain usually falls in Boston during July. Last month, the city saw 10.07 inches of rain, the National Weather Service said. In fact, Boston saw two thirds of its monthly rainfall average on July 9, when 2.04 inches of rainfall were recorded.
July was also slightly cooler than average at 72.4 degrees instead of the average 74.1. July 16 was the hottest day of the month, peaking at 95 degrees.

Meanwhile, July 3 and 5 tied for the coolest days of the month at 57 degrees. While both days were unseasonably chilly, neither broke the record coldest day of 50 degrees set in 1879 and 1988.
