Lane Closures: Atlantic Avenue and Surface Road/Purchase Street

From MassDOT: The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced that crews will begin overnight work to reconstruct crosswalks at various intersections on Atlantic Avenue and Surface Road/Purchase Street in Boston on the evening of Monday, July 15.

This work will require varying lane closures each evening from 7:00 p.m., through 6:00 a.m. the following morning. These traffic impacts will take place at various locations along these roadways depending upon the operations being performed.

This work is currently expected to be completed by the end of August and operations to reconstruct crosswalks on Atlantic Avenue between Mercantile Street and North Washington Street is then scheduled to begin later in the summer.

Members of the public should note that work is being conducted in ways that minimize impacts on the traveling public and local community. For example, jackhammering work is ceasing each evening at 11 p.m.

People traveling through the impacted areas should be mindful of delays, reduce speed, and use caution. Signage and messaging will be in place to notify drivers of these impacts. The schedule for this work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
