Physical Therapist Diane Dalton has been invited to speak at the 2019 American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists’ Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, on Oct. 26. Dalton practices at Boston University Physical Therapy Center, located at 915 Commonwealth Ave. She is also a clinical associate professor at Boston University and teaches in the Doctor of Physical Therapy and orthopaedic manual physical therapy fellowship programs.

Dalton will deliver a presentation entitled “Implementing graded motor imagery (GMI) into clinical practice for patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain.” The lecture will highlight a new treatment strategy that aims to retrain areas of the brain and nervous system that sometimes demonstrate altered processing in people who live with pain, particularly if the pain persists for extended periods of time.

Dalton received her master’s in physical therapy from Columbia University. She has been an orthopaedic clinical specialist since 1997. Board-certified in orthopaedic physical therapy, Dalton has authored several publications on the functional anatomy of the spine and presented at national and international conferences.
