MA Pet Store Chain Closing 18 Location After Bankruptcy Filing
The pet store chain will remain open until the end of February. The chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week.
BOSTON, MA — The Loyal Companion pet store chain will close all 18 Massachusetts locations by the end of the month after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week.
Loyal Companion operates stores in several Northeast states, including Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Most of the chain's Massachusetts stores are inside the I-495 belt.
"With a heavy heart, we want to inform you that we've made the tough decision to close our Loyal Companion stores. We have loved serving the community and supporting you on your pet wellness journey," the company said in an announcement this week. "Our stores will be open through the end of February. We will be offering liquidation discounts and we encourage you to take advantage of these great offers to get all the supplies you need."

Loyal Companion has Massachusetts locations in the following communities:
- Acton
- Bedford
- Beverly
- Boston
- Cambridge
- Canton
- Concord
- Dedham
- Littleton
- Medway
- Newton
- Salem
- Shrewsbury
- Stoneham
- Stow
- Sudbury
- Wayland
- Wellesley
Loyal Companion's parent company, Independent Pet Partners, operates stores in Midwest and Rocky Mountain states under the Chuck & Don’s and Kriser’s names, but those will remain open, according to the bankruptcy filing.
