MA Coronavirus Update: 4 More Die, Cases Near 5,000
The death toll from the new coronavirus in Massachusetts hit 48 and nearly 700 more cases were announced.
BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Sunday announced four more deaths from the new coronavirus, bringing the state's death toll to 48. Officials also announced 698 more cases, bringing the total to 4,955.
As testing has increased, cases have skyrocketed; more than 39,000 people have been tested so far.
There are 981 cases in Middlesex County, 940 in Suffolk County, 570 in Essex County and 548 in Norfolk County.

The new deaths reported were:
- A man in his 80s in Essex County.
- A woman in her 90s in Middlesex County.
- A woman in her 70s in Norfolk County.
- A woman in her 80s in Berkshire County.
