MA Power Outages, Logan Flight Delays, Damage In Blustery Storm
More than 8,000 are without power and trees and power lines are being torn down across Massachusetts Thursday.

More than 8,000 in Massachusetts are still without power following a blustery storm across the region that ripped down trees and affecting air travel. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said that 8,757 customers were without power as of 10 p.m.
Several towns in Plymouth County were among the hardest-hit, some of which still had hundreds without power as of Thursday night. Earlier in the day, Swansea had the most outages with more than 2,500.
There were several traffic impacts around the state. On I-93 North, a tractor trailer became disabled across all lanes, hurting the evening commute.

Several communities endured wind gusts that would classify as hurricane-strength. Blue Hills has the high mark at 83 m.p.h, according to the National Weather Service. That's the highest wind gust ever recorded on Jan. 24.
Due to the high winds, dozens of flights in and out of Logan were delayed.

In Newton, a 100-year-old tree flattened the roof of an unoccupied car, taking wires and a utility pole down with it. Bullough Park and Dexter Road are still closed, the fire department confirmed.


In Hopkinton, traffic lights in major intersections were being torn down.

In Cambridge, a massive wind gust toppled a trailer load.
