MA Weather: Friday Snow Estimates Revealed, Sunday Still Focus

There will be about as much snow as we've had all winter this Friday, but we might get a lot more than that this weekend.

The first official snow total forecasts for Friday have arrived. The precipitation later this week will only result in a light coating, but the National Weather Service says much of the focus is on a second storm this weekend - and "for good reason."

Light snow will fall during Friday morning's commute, covering much of Central and Eastern Mass. in between 1-3 inches, with higher totals near Worcester. Plymouth and Bristol counties and the Cape can expect just a dusting.

"While most of the attention continues to focus on this weekend (for good reason), light snow will be falling during the Friday morning commute," the NWS said.

With a forecast like this, any school closings likely wouldn't be announced until very late. Patch will have a school closings list if necessary.

Most of the attention is still on this weekend. The NWS said Sunday will definitely be wet, but the question remains whether it will be snow, rain or ice. If it ends up being snow, it might end up being a significant amount.

Patch will have the latest forecasts as they come.
