BOSTON, MA — Saturday dawned clear and sunny in Massachusetts, but bone-chillingly cold. The frigid temperatures are expected to last throughout the weekend, with feel-like temperatures reaching the negative double-digits overnight.

During the day Saturday, high temperatures are expected to peak just below 30 degrees, with wind chills in the single digits or below zero in much of the state. After the sun goes down, the temperature will plummet to the teens, with wind chills as low as negative 12 in the northwest corner of the state.

To help prevent hypothermia and other cold-borne emergencies, the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention recommends dressing in layers and limiting time outdoors, covering extremities and the face as much as possible. Older adults, small children and those who spend long periods of time outside are most at risk for hypothermia or frostbite.
