MA Weather: Hazardous Outlook For Today's Thunderstorms
Potentially severe thunderstorms are expected to wash across the state. Also, Hurricane Dorian's expected path moves a bit farther out.
A hazardous weather outlook and severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for most of Massachusetts in advance of potentially volatile weather Wednesday. The National Weather Service is warning of scattered strong and severe thunderstorms and the low risk of large hail and a tornado. Strongs straight-line winds and locally heavy downpours are expected.
The area most at risk is north and west of the I-95 corridor. Southeast coastal Massachusetts is clear of the hazardous weather outlook.
The storms are expected to be brief as they wash through the region. The NWS said the timing is between 2-8 p.m.

The storm comes days before Hurricane Dorian makes its presence known in Southern New England. Dorian's expected intensity is dipping a bit, but 1-3 inches of rain in a very short amount of time is possible. The National Hurricane Center's Wednesday morning forecast has the storm churning well off the coast Friday night into Saturday, bringing heavy wind gusts, but likely not tropical storm-force.
Still, forecasters say there is a 20-30 percent chance of tropical storm-force wind gusts when the hurricane passes offshore.
