MA Weather: Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms All Week

From today until Friday, expect heavy rains and thunderstorms to be the norm. Worcester and Western Massachusetts are under a flood watch.

BOSTON, MA — Most of Massachusetts probably isn't seeing the sun much over the next week, according to the National Weather Service. From today until Friday, the entire forecast is rain, thunderstorms, and even the potential for flooding in some counties.

In the Boston area, expect to need a rain coat most of Saturday. Steady rain, starts in the afternoon with some heavier showers mixed in. There's also a possibility of thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Wind gusts could reach over 30 mph.

The rain is expected to be more severe west of Boston. A flood watch has been put in place in several cities and towns including Worcester, Milford, Northampton, Springfield, Fitchburg, and other surrounding towns. Rainfall is expected to reach 1-2 inches and could flood local rivers, streams, and drainage systems.

Saturday - Showers, with thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m. Patchy fog. High near 69. Wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday night - Showers before 1 a.m. Patchy fog before 11 p.m, then patchy fog after 2 a.m. Low around 56. Wind 8 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch.

Sunday - Chance of showers is 50 percent. Patchy fog before 8 a.m. High near 65.

Sunday night - Chance of showers before 8 p.m. and after 9 p.m. Mostly cloudy with a low of 52. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Monday - Showers likely after 11 a.m. CLoudy with a high of 61. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Monday night - Showers likely between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy with a low of 49. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
