MA Weather: One More Heat Wave This Week

August isn't going quietly. A heat wave is expected for this week as many kids head back to school across Massachusetts, and it should break just in time for September.

Monday will be hot, with temperatures in the high 80s, but the real heat starts midweek. Tuesday, Wednesday, and perhaps Thursday are expected to be sunny with temperatures in the mid-to-high 90s and heat indices hovering around 105. Beach bums: Assemble!

The National Weather Service said a hazardous weather outlook will be in effect as "heat advisories will likely be needed" Tuesday, Wednesday, and possibly Thursday. There is also a chance of excessive heat warnings.

On Thursday, the heat could come with thunderstorms.

When the temperatures break at the end of the week, they'll be back in the low 70s and save for a brief spike, might not be back in the 80s any time soon.

Monday - Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 89. West wind 3 to 6 mph.

Monday night - Mostly cloudy during the evening, then mostly clear overnight, with a low around 70. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 95. Heat index values as high as 101. West wind 6 to 11 mph.

Tuesday night - Mostly clear, with a low around 74. Southwest wind around 6 mph.

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 96.

Wednesday night - Mostly clear, with a low around 74.

Thursday - A chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1pm and 4pm, then a chance of thunderstorms after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64.

Friday - A chance of showers after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 77. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60.

Saturday - Partly sunny, with a high near 75.

Saturday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62.

Sunday - Partly sunny, with a high near 79.
