MA Weather: Severe Thunderstorms Moving Through State

It's unclear how far the storms will stretch tonight.

More than 2,600 in Massachusetts are without power as severe thunderstorms roll east through the central part of the state. A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect from Worcester to Southern Middlesex counties.

The National Weather Service said large hail and 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts were to be expected. It's unclear how far east the storms will reach, but the Weather Channel says there is more than a 30 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms reaching Boston tonight.

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said 2,674 were without power due to outages scattered across the state as of 7:10 p.m. Billerica was the hardest-hit town with more than 700 in the dark. Most of the outages are in Western Mass. and Worcester County. A few hundred are without power in Boston and suburbs to the west.
