MA Weather: Summer Forecast Taking Major Shift As Rains Come In

It's the start of what could be "an extended period of wet, humid conditions ... that may last into August."

A wet weather pattern will emerge over the next week in New England, dumping a few inches of rain across Massachusetts as we get dealt couple stretches of wet weather. It's the start of what AccuWeather said could be "an extended period of wet, humid conditions ... that may last into August."

The conditions over the next several days could give way to a storm that features tropical depression characteristics. Forecasters are looking at the possibility of a sub-tropical storm forming in the Northeast.

"Some locations are likely to see a soaking," the National Weather Service said.

Friday is "another gem of a day," according to the NWS. The nice weather will carry into Saturday until a round of showers and thunderstorms come during the night and into Sunday. Then more rain Monday and Thursday, according to forecasters.

The relative coolness outside will turn back into mugginess for the rest of July. There could be tropical downpours Saturday into Sunday, resulting in up to 3 inches in some areas.

The summer as we have known it thus far could give way to a frustratingly wet season, AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Meteorologist Paul Pastelok said. "It's probably more likely that summer is going to take a long break with some hope for sunny, hot weather during the middle to latter part of August."

The rain will be a boon for some as parts of Massachusetts is currently suffering through abnormally dry conditions, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
