March 24, 2023, Andover, MA: Voices of Hope’s “March to a Million” campaign is nearing the finish line…they are $21,000 short of having donated one million dollars to local cancer research!
With their upcoming two-day run of The Music Man at North Shore Music Theatre this April, they fully expect to achieve this significant goal, but still need YOUR support to help them continue marching forward toward a cure!
The Music Man is one of the most universally cherished treasures of American musical theater. The show was an instant smash hit when it premiered on Broadway in 1957, winning five Tony Awards®, including Best Musical. With such iconic songs as "Trouble," "76 Trombones "and "Till There Was You," THE MUSIC MAN is family entertainment at its best, and the Smithsonian Institution ranks it as one of the “great glories” of American popular culture.

For the VOH production of this iconic show, the local non-profit organization “built a little town” filled with real and imagined families representing the residents of mythical “River City, Iowa,” a proxy for Mason City, Iowa, the home of creator Meredith Wilson. This light-hearted story of a sleepy little town brought to life by the magic of music, is filled with song, dance, and a bit of shenanigans by lead character Harold Hill (played by Chelmsford resident and police officer, Kenny Meehan). He is joined onstage by his wife, Diane Meehan in the role of Marian “the Librarian” along with daughters, Maddy and Liora. And that’s just one example. Now friends, let me tell you what I mean…you’ve got one, two, three, four, five, six (and more!) additional families represented in this show! There are also Berinatos, Cincottas, Coughlans, Earleys, Kurdziels, Siegals, Tangs, and Wells!
This multi-generational cast is sure to get your toes tapping, your faces smiling, and your hearts growing with love for this dedicated and talented group of volunteers who are all focused on making cancer history one song at a time!
