MBTA To Run On Reduced Schedule During March 13 Storm

Whether you're taking the Commuter Rail or the T, expect to wait during Tuesday's commute.

BOSTON, MA – The MBTA will run on a reduced schedule across the board during Tuesday's storm, but your wait time will depend on which line you take. Those commuting from outside Boston will have to contend with an "Extremely Reduced" Commuter Rail schedule, while the Red, Orange, Blue and Green lines will operate with reduced frequency similar to a Saturday schedule, the agency said.

This means for those taking the T, expect wait times of 7-10 minutes between trains. Commuter Rail schedules will be updated on mbta.com and available at South, North, and Back Bay Stations. The MBTA also recommends commuters check the MBTA website, sign up for T-Alerts, and follow the commuter rail on Twitter @MBTA_CR for updates on service changes.

The Wollaston Station bus shuttle that runs to and from North Quincy, Wollaston and Quincy Center will continue to operate during Tuesday's storm. Buses will also replace the Mattapan Trolley Line to protect the trolley cars from storm damage.

Regular weekday bus service is scheduled on Tuesday, but some buses will most likely operate on their designated Snow Routes. To find a list of buses with Snow Routes, customers are urged to visit www.mbta.com/winter where these routes are listed.

The MBTA is not planning any changes to the RIDE operations, but riders are reminded that snowy conditions may impact driving conditions and snow buildup may affect drivers’ ability to gain safe access to locations not plowed or shoveled.

All ferry service will be suspended for the entire day Tuesday.

The MBTA said these measures are necessary to protect vehicles and equipment in the blizzard-like conditions predicted for Tuesday's storm. Commuters are advised to plan for additional travel times during their morning and evening commutes.
