Mission Hill Shooting: 1 Killed, 3 Arrested
Andres Cruz, owner of AC Hardware in Mission Hill, was gunned down Tuesday and three men were charged in his murder.
BOSTON, MA — A Mission Hill hardware store owner was shot to death Tuesday and three suspects were charged with his murder, police said. The victim was Andres Cruz, owner of AC Hardware on Tremont Street. He was reportedly 58 years old.
The three suspects were identified as Christian Soto-Olivero, 21, of Mattapan; Jerome Hobson, 38, of Dorchester; and Shawn Redden, 26, of Brockton. All suspects will be arraigned on murder and gun charges Wednesday in Roxbury District Court.
The shooting happened at about 4 p.m.

"This was brazen daytime shooting of a good, well-respected man doing the right thing," Boston police Commissioner William Evans said in a statement.
Cruz's store was awarded the 2017 Mission Hill Main Streets "Business of the Year," according to the Mission Hill Gazette.

Police did not immediately comment on the circumstances leading up to the shooting. After the shooting, Evans said the three suspects fled in a vehicle but police cruisers caught up with them. The suspects stopped the car near Cedar Street and Lambert Avenue and took off on foot, at which point officers apprehended them, police said.
