MS-13 Gang Member Admits Involvement In NJ Killing: Police

New Jersey authorities will seek to extradite a 20-year-old East Boston man arrested Friday.

BOSTON, MA – An MS-13 gang member arrested Friday admitted his involvement in a New Jersey murder, police said. Francisco Carlos Ramires, 20, wanted in a series of assaults in Brighton, was believed to be the same person sought for questioning in an Aug. 25 killing in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, according to police.

Ramires and two others were arrested in Allston on Friday. Police said he was using the alias Carlos Campos-Cutone at the time of his arrest.

Ramires and Henri Salvador-Gutierrez, 18, of Brighton were arrested for outstanding warrants. Erick Hernandez-Jandres, 18, of Roxbury, was arrested and charged with possession of a dangerous weapon.

In interviews with police, Ramires allegedly admitted to being involved in the killing. He was charged with being a fugitive from justice on Monday, and a full extradition arrest warrant has been filed charging him with murder.

"I would like to commend everyone involved in this investigation—it was a true team effort between the BRIC, my investigators, and the New Jersey authorities," Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said in a release. "I’d especially like to commend the incredible job done by the BRIC analyst whose attention to detail initiated this investigation and ultimately led to the arrest of a very dangerous individual."
