Starting July 1, Rachel Rumely, Saint Columbkille Partnership School’s (STCPS) current Director of Mission and Catholic Identity, will begin as Assistant Head of School. Rumely has worked at STCPS for more than 10 years as both a second grade teacher and an administrator.

Rumely joins the leadership team of Dr. William Gartside, Head of School, and Keyon Hurd, Assistant Head of School. She takes over for Katie Lamothe, who previously held the position. In her most recent role as Director of Mission and Catholic Identity, Rumely oversaw spirituality at the school and ran the school’s admissions and events marketing efforts.

“We could not be more excited to announce the promotion of Ms. Rumely to Assistant Head of School,” says Gartside. “Her tenure at Saint Columbkille and her extensive teaching and administrative experience will further nurture the school’s academic excellence. She brings confident and effective leadership, along with a strong sense of Catholic identity, which truly embody our long-term goals for the school.”

Rumely will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of the STCPS preschool and elementary school, working with Dr. Gartside and teachers to continue development of a successful and positive learning environment. Specifically, she will lead the preschool and elementary school teacher team, providing support in the areas of curriculum development and instruction. Additionally, Rumely will continue to oversee the mission and Catholic identity of the school.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with our students, teachers and families in this new role as Assistant Head of School,” says Rumely. "I'm passionate about our school's mission and the growth of our students. I look forward to working more closely with the curriculum and instruction as well as supporting the social, emotional and spiritual development of our students and staff."

Her passion and commitment for Catholic education are exemplified through her participation in the Urban Catholic Teacher Corps through Boston College, where she taught for two years at inner-city Boston Catholic schools after graduating from Xavier University in Cincinnati. Rumely is also a double eagle, having earned two Master’s degrees from Boston College in both Curriculum and Instruction and Instructional Leadership from the school’s Lynch School of Education and Human Development.
