Red Line Delays After Person Trapped Between Train, Platform
The person suffered only minor injuries in the Thursday morning incident.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — A woman had to be rescued after being trapped between a Red Line train and the platform at Central Square Station Thursday morning, according to the Cambridge Fire Department. The woman suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Officials say it's not yet clear just how she ended up getting stuck.
Red Line delays persisted until 9:07 a.m., when the MBTA said things were running smoothly again. That was nearly two hours after the woman became stuck.
The Red Line had shuttle buses replace service between Harvard and Park Street for a stretch of time Thursday morning.

If you're starting to wonder what's happening with people getting stuck near the platform of trains, a spokesperson told Patch this scenario was quite different from last week's incident on the Orange Line.
"There were no similarities with the Orange Line incident. Detectives are working to determine why the woman was in the Red Line right-of-way. The MBTA shares the frustration of its customers when there is a sudden, unexpected disruption in subway service caused by a medical emergency," said Joe Pesaturo in an email to Patch.

Pesaturo said MBTA personnel worked hard to communicate information to affected customers and restore service as soon as possible.
