Rent Control Foe's Firm Gave $7,000 To Essaibi George's Campaign

is Ex-Rental Housing Association Prez Zuker's firm also helping to fund Boston Councilor Essaibi George's 2021 mayoral campaign committee?

According to an April 2021 WBUR website article, over 70 percent of Boston's residents want to see rent control and rent regulation protection for Boston's tenant majority restored in 2021.

Yet 2021 Boston mayoral candidate Annissa Essaibi George, who has been sitting on the Boston City Council during the past 5 years (while monthly market rents charged Boston tenants have generally continued to be increased by the special real estate interests that pro-landlord lobbying groups like the Rental Housing Association [RHA] and the Greater Boston Real Estate Board represent), still is against bringing back rent control and rent regulation to Boston in 2021.

Coincidentally, according to Essaibi George Committee financial disclosure forms, on Apr. 6, 2021--nearly 3 months before Boston Mayor Janey's campaign committee accepted a $1,000 contribution on June 30, 2021 and nearly 4 months before Boston Councilor Wu's campaign committee also accepted a $1,000 contribution on July 30, 2021 from Chestnut Hill Realty CEO Ed Zuker of Chestnut Hill, MA--Councilor Esssaibi George's campaign committee had also accepted a $1,000 contribution from this former Rental Housing Association [RHA] President and former Greater Boston Real Estate Board Vice-President who, historically, helped to undemocratically eliminate rent regulation in Boston during the 1990's. And, in addition, a $1,000 contribution from Judi Zuker of Chestnut Hill, MA was also accepted on Apr. 6, 2021 by Councilor Essaibi George's campaign committee.

Councilor Essaibi's campaign committee also accepted the following other campaign contributions from individuals affiliated with former RHA President Zuker's Chestnut Hill Realty on Apr. 6, 2021:

1. A campaign contribution of $1,000 from Brookline's Robert Zuker of Chestnut Hill Realty (who also gave a $1,000 contribution to Mayor Janey's campaign committee on June 30, 2021). And, in addition, Molly Zuker of Brookline also gave Essaibi George's committee a $1,000 campaign contribution on Apr. 6, 2021;

2. A campaign contribution of $1,000 from Chestnut Hill, MA's Lauren Sift of Chestnut Hill Realty (who also gave a $1,000 contribtion to Mayor Janey's campaign committee on June 30, 2021). And, in addition, Eden Sift of Chestnut Hill, MA also gave Essaibi George's committee a $1,000 contribution on Apr. 6, 2021;

3. A campaign contribution of $1,000 from Sudbury, MA's Christopher Rodgers III of Chestnut Hill Realty (who also gave a $1,000 contribution to Mayor Janey's campaign committee on June 30, 2021);

4. A campaign contribution of $1,000 from Danyel Rodgers of Chestnut Hill Realty (who also gave a $1,000 contribution to Mayor Janey's campaign committee on June 30, 2021);

5. A campaign contribution of $1,000 from Stow, MA's Catherine Morat of Chestnut Hill Realty (who also gave a $1,000 contribution to Mayor Janey's campaign committee on June 30, 2021); and

6. A campaign contribution of $1,000 from Newton, MA's Peter Poras of Chestnut Hill Realty.

Of the 719 individual campaign contributions of $1,000 that Boston City Councilor Essaibi George's mayoral campaign committee accepted from various individuals between Jan. 1, 2021 and Sept. 2, 2021, more than a few were apparently accepted from individuals who (like Chestnut Hill Realty CEO Zuker of Chestnut Hill, MA) are involved in the real estate industry (which has, historically, worked to block rent regulation, rent control, rent rollbacks and rent freezes for the Boston tenants it has often exploited economically).

For example, beside accepting at least $7,000 in individual contributions of $1,000 from individuals affiliated with former RHA President, former Greater Boston Real Estate Board Vice-President and Chestnut Hill Realty CEO Zuker's firm on Apr. 6, 2021, Councilor Essaibi George's campaign committee also apparently deposited, between January and Sept. 2, 2021, over 70 other individual contributions of $1,000 from folks involved in the real estate/real estate deal-making and construction industry.
