Severe MBTA Delays Across Multiple Lines

The MBTA said there were delays of more than 25 minutes due to a power outage.

Most of the MBTA train lines are experiencing that persisted well into the Friday evening commute. The MBTA said the Blue, Green and Orange lines are experiencing delays of more than 25 minutes due to a power problem at a substation.

"We know this power issue is tough for many of you & we really appreciate you bearing with us," the MBTA tweeted. It earlier acknowledged, "We know this isn't the best way to end a week."

Heavy queues were building in several stations. The worst delays were on the Blue Line between Airport and Government Center, on the Orange Line between Downtown Crossing and North Station and on the Green Line between Copley and North Station.

The Red Line, which was the only one that avoided the power problems, were seeing delays of up to 20 minutes for signal issues, the MBTA said shortly before 6 p.m.

The eastbound C and D trains on the Green Line are ending at Kenmore Station. The MBTA said to use the westbound B train to Kenmore and transfer there.
