The music-streaming software company lists five open positions in Boston, but a 75,000-square-foot office could house hundreds of employees.

BOSTON, MA — Spotify, the music-streaming software company may be expanding from its Somerville outpost to a 75,000-square-foot office that could house hundreds of employees in Boston, according to the Boston Business Journal, which reported it looks like a deal is on the verge of happening.
The FBI spent decades at Center Plaza before moving to Chelsea in 2016 but the journal reported sources told it the music streaming company may be about to sign a deal to move there. It's not clear what type of work Spotify will would do at the office, which could hold some 500 employees: The company only lists five open positions for the Boston area on its website.
The Boston Business Journal reports Spotify is working its way into Boston's corporate circles. Last week, the music service company began a partnership with John Hancock. Spotify supplies the music and playlists, and the John Hancock Elite Athlete Team supplies the motivational tips for runners who listen to it.
