Stolen Dog Returned To Animal Rescue League Of Boston

Nick the Dog was stolen from the rescue center more than a month ago, say officials from the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

BOSTON, MA — A little more than a month ago a couple walked into the Animal Rescue League of Boston, walked out with a 2-year-old pitt-bull type dog, and never came back. The dog, Nick, was described as a loveable favorite of the staff. The team there said they wouldn't give up and even offered $1,000 for his safe return.

Now more than a month after he was allegedly stolen, the pup is back safe at the Rescue League.

Late Tuesday evening a concerned citizen contacted the MSPCA-Angell call center with a tip about where Nick might be.

MSPCA notified the Animal Rescue League, who picked up Nick and transported him back to ARL’s Boston Animal Care & Adoption Center.

Shelter staff confirmed this morning that the animal is indeed Nick, they said over social media. During the past six weeks the search for Nick has been the staff's priority number one. ARL’s Law Enforcement Department worked closely with the Boston Police Department on Nick’s safe return.

"ARL is overwhelmed with joy to have Nick back with the organization, he is healthy and doing great. ARL would like to thank the Boston Police Department for their tireless efforts, the MSPCA for their quick response, and members of the media for getting Nick’s story to the masses," they posted to social media.

But they did add Nick will undergo medical and behavioral evaluation and is not currently available for adoption.
