Teenager Arrested After Gun Threat Aboard MBTA Red Line

BOSTON, MA — An 18-year-old Boston man was arrested after allegedly brandishing a firearm and threatening to kill a person Saturday afternoon, according to the MBTA Transit Police.

Officers responded to the incident at the JFK/UMass MBTA Red Line station at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, after the man and several juveniles reportedly brandished a firearm and threatened to kill the victim following a verbal dispute aboard a Red Line train. According to transit police, the 18-year-old was taken into custody and transported to Transit Police headquarters for the arrest and booking process.

Transit police did not identify the man in their initial statement or specify what charges he faces. Authorities also did not say whether the firearm was recovered, whether it was loaded, what prompted the verbal dispute, or whether any of the juveniles involved were taken into custody.
