Top 20 Summer Bars Around Boston

It's hot and you need a bar. Check out this list of the most popular spots in the area.

BOSTON, MA – It's 85 degrees, the sun is leaning heavily on your shoulder, and you're dying for a cold one. But there are almost as many bars in the Boston area as there are students, and whether you're a local or just visiting, the number of options can be overwhelming. And there's nothing worse than whipping through Yelp for a quality spot while your friends yank each of your limbs in the direction of the nearest watering hole.

Thankfully, Google has offered a tried and true list of the top 20 destinations for people in the Boston area over the summer months. The Google team used Google Maps data to determine what places trend over the summer months. Google also took a look at the top restaurants, tourist spots and parks in and around the Boston area.

The "Boston area" is a generous description, as it goes out to Cambridge then all the way to the North Shore, but so what? You've got options.

Two of the bars that made the list - Frost and Rattlesnake - seem to be permanently closed. Let me fill in those two spots with a couple of my favorites: McGreevey's on Boylston and Notch Brewery on Derby Street in Salem.
