United Way Community Baby Shower Draws Hundreds

United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley hosted its annual Community Baby Shower to provide low-income families with resources.

United Way of Massachusetts Bay’s annual Community Baby Shower drew more than 200 families this year. The event aims to connect low-income pregnant women and new/soon-to-be parents with maternal and early childhood resources, as well as community support to ease the transition to motherhood. This year’s event took place last week at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury.

United Way partnered with several community organizations including Boston Medical Center (BMC) HealthNet Plan for the event. BMC HealthNet Plan has worked with United Way for the past three years as part of Sunny Start, their pregnancy management program. BMC HealthNet Plan had an education table to provide resources for new families and donated two infant car seats, two toddler car seats and four boxes of diapers as giveaways.
