Will Drake Maye’s Shoulder Ever Be As Strong As It Was in 2025?

I am not a doctor and I am not an insider. I do not have contacts on the Patriots and do not possess any inside information. What I do know is that for a NFL quarterback having shoulder issues is never best for the long term.

Drake Maye was magnificent most of the 2025 season until the playoffs when an under reported shoulder injury must have affected his performances. Having an injection in your shoulder before a Super Bowl game is never an optimal confidence builder before the big game. A few interceptions and fumbles later who can disagree.

The question is how vulnerable will the throwing shoulder be now that teams know there is an issue there. Will Mr. Maye noticeably lose velocity, elite touch and distance? Then there is the psychological aspect of fearing losing a $200M career with him still under is rookie contract. There are QB’s of the past like Bert Jones and Payton Manning whose arms were seriously diminished by injuries to the right shoulder and arm.

Then again it may heal completely and never be an issue again. That seems to be the Patriot’s thinking. Only time will tell.
