Police were looking for a “person of interest” in relation to the incident, and who may have been registered at the hotel, police said in a statement Sunday afternoon.

The shooting was reported by several callers, including a Braintree firefighter working a private detail at the Extended Stay America. The firefighter told police he heard gunshots and saw a man run toward the edge of the parking lot.

Gunshots were also reported by workers at a FedEx building next door, who briefly placed the site on lockdown. Another caller reported a man shot near that location, 44 Granite St.
