BRAINTREE, MA — Getting to Logan Airport could soon become a little easier for Braintree and South Shore residents.
On Tuesday, Mayor Erin Joyce joined state, federal and local officials to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new remote airport terminal at the Braintree Logan Express facility.
Once completed, the facility is expected to make traveling to Logan Airport more convenient. Passengers will also be able to complete security screening before arriving at the airport, potentially saving valuable time before their flights.
Although the project is still months away from completion, Joyce took a moment to recognize those who helped make it possible.
In a Facebook post, Joyce thanked Gov. Maura Healey, Massport CEO Richard Davey, Massachusetts Department of Transportation interim Secretary Phillip Eng, U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch, state Sens. John Keenan and Bill Driscoll, state Rep. Mark Cusack, and local officials and labor leaders for their contributions to the project.
Once the terminal opens, South Shore travelers could have one less hurdle to clear before taking off on their next adventure.
