Massachusetts Resident ID’d As Victim In Conn. Fatal Crash

The accident happened on I-395 northbound in Norwich, Conn. on April 21.

A Massachusetts resident has been identified as the motorist who was killed in a crash on I-395 in Norwich, Conn. last week.

The driver, Jacques Bertheau, 78, of Brockton, Mass., suffered fatal injuries in the April 21 one-vehicle accident, Connecticut state police said Tuesday.

Police said the accident happened around 10:48 a.m. on the northbound side of the highway, in the vicinity of exit 18.

Police said a green 2004 Nissan Xterra collided with the Lawler Lane overpass in the right shoulder after going off the roadway. The vehicle came to a final rest in the middle of I-395 Northbound.

Bertheau was transported to William W. Backus Hospital, and he was later taken to Hartford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The collision remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed it, who has dash camera footage, or information is asked to contact the Connecticut State Police Troop E Montville barracks at 800-953-7747.
